First Look and Review of the Tensor Sand Series UTV Tire
What's going on guys? Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the new tire that Tensor just released, and it's a sand tire called the Sand Series. Tensor has been a major player in the ATV and UTV tire market for years now, and the new Sand Series model promises to carry on that legacy even further - it's an awesome tire that's had a ton of different design changes done to it, and it's a definite must see.
That also means that it's a must have if you're a dune person, so let's not waste any more time - let's jump in right away and see what the Tensor Sand Series brings to the table.

Design Features of Rear Tensor Sand Series tires
We're starting first up with the rear tire in the Tensor SS lineup. It's a paddle tire with 14 paddles, one inch in depth each, and the biggest change that you're gonna see with this, obviously, is the velocity grid on the tire. This is a patent-pending design that Tensor has come up with - the engineers have spent countless amounts of time on this, developing that extra edge you need when you're out on the dunes, whether it's braking, accelerating, turning, and the overall performance you need to handle the machine.
What they're saying with this is that velocity grip is gonna give you that biting edge you need to maneuver the dunes, because it gives you that little extra bit where sand can get into each of those grids. You can use that for propulsion, braking, turning, and anything you're looking for, really - the velocity grid is supposed to help do that when it comes to riding in the dunes. These velocity grids are used on both the rear paddle and the front tire, which we'll take you through in a minute.

The Sand Series is a little bit bigger of a tire, coming in at 29.9 pounds. It comes in two-ply construction, but with that velocity grid design, you do get a little bit of lowered rotating mass because, since it's a grid, it's pulling some of that material out. But with these new high-performing machines that have like 200 or 225 horsepower from the factory, having a bit bigger tire that can handle that power is kind of the sweet spot, where you begin to see this 33-inch tire come in. It might be a bit bigger than you're used to, but it's definitely worth it.
In addition, with the Sand Series being a 33, you can have a bit more ground clearance, which is awesome especially when you're heading out for the dunes, as it makes riding that much more fun versus driving on a 30 or 32 - those differences in height aren't huge, but they are noticeable, especially in terms of performance and handling.

Design Features of Front Tensor Sand Series tires
So let's look at the front tire of the Tensor Sand Series now - this is gonna be a 33x11-15 setup, meaning that it's two inches narrower than the rear tire, and it has more of that traditional front-runner style that you might be more used to. You do have the velocity grid on this tire, still, and you also have dual apex turning ribbons. This is gonna give you that premium response that you're looking for out of your front tires when it comes to steering the machine, and of course, that velocity grid will really help as well.

One of the words that we've been hearing a lot when it comes to these tires is the predictability of them, and that's the one thing we all really want our tires to be able to do - when we put them into specific situations, we already know what the outcome is gonna be. These tires aren't gonna do anything crazy, and they're gonna respond the way we expect them to, and that's a credit to Tensor, who has done an awesome job integrating the velocity grid and turning ribbons to give you that premium steering response you're looking for.
The front tire in the SS series comes in at 24.4 pounds, which is still really lightweight thanks to that two-ply construction and the velocity grid that reduces the weight and rotating mass.
